Let's be honest: I'm absolutely crap at makeup but recently I've been trying to change this by going outside of my comfort zone and experimenting with some new products. I was in Superdrug the other day and bought a couple of bits that I'm going to talk about from a beginner's perspective.

001: So I didn't actually buy Benefit's They're Real Tinted Primer for your lashes but instead got it free with a magazine last week, however I'm absolutely loving it. It comes out as a brown colour that coats your lashes and has an immediate effect. It's helped to make my lashes look longer and thicker. What I like to do is use one layer of this, followed by mascara (as I prefer having black lashes) to help boost length and separation but if you wanted to, you could just use it on its own.

002: I've never really worn eyeshadow much but this is partly due to not owning any. I saw the MUA Undress Me Too palette for a really good price in Superdrug and had to give it a go. As you can see, I've swatched a few of my favourite colours above. What I like about the palette is that there's some shimmery tones that can easily be dressed up or down. I also love the colour range - from champagne to charcoal grey.

003: So after trying out red lips a couple of weeks ago, I decided to add more colours to my collection. I picked up the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Moxie which is a dark pink, borderline purple colour that is really long-lasting, however I find that it makes my lips quite dry. I also purchased the MUA Luxe Whipped Velvet Lips in Ritzy which is pretty pink that is quite opaque and needs topping up throughout the day. I find that this colour is perfect for the everyday, as it's much more subtle than Moxie but still a gorgeous colour at the same time.

I'm really starting to like MUA as their products are so affordable but are a really great quality (for a newbie like me they are anyway).
